S2S Recently Visited the InfoSec Europe Convention in London in April, InfoSec is europe's number one security event in which thousands of people turn up.
S2S Was delighted how the event went and found it very productive and will be back their when the event comes around on 23-25 April 2013.

The new building becomes the ‘head office’ for the company and houses all of the services and staff that were previously housed at the company’s two sites in Huddersfield and Sheffield.
With around four times the space the company previously had, it allows S2S Electronics to expand the manufacturing, secure storage and asset recovery business to meet customer demand. Over £100,000 has been invested in the new 45,000 sq ft facility tailoring it to fit exactly with the company’s requirements.
Enhancements to security, fume extraction, compressed air, a new screen printer for the surface mount line and a new flow solder machine with automatic spray flux capability as well as refurbishing the reception and offices areas have all added to improve the facility enabling ‘S2S Electronics’ to deliver a high quality portfolio of products and services in a high quality environment.
The new site has already gained AATF (approved authorised treatment facility) status under the WEEE directive and has a full waste permit allowing electronic/electrical waste to be treated on site.
The current portfolio of services now being delivered from the Dearne Valley Head Office include:

Recycling your old mobile phones – unique carbon calculator as standard
Recycling mobile phones is not a new service but whilst consumers have been tempted by television adverts for top paybacks on old handsets, what are the options for the corporate clients who have a number of handsets, concerns about security and corporate social responsibilities to fulfil??
S2S Solutions, based in South Yorkshire offer a bespoke solution to clients that includes top range pricing, data wiping of devices with certification and a unique carbon calculator that allows clients to determine their reduction in carbon from reusing the handset as opposed to disposing of it or recycling it.
Developed in conjunction with Giraffe Innovation, one the UK’s leading sustainability consultants, the carbon calculator ,developed in accordance with ISO14004, allows clients to look at a table and select their handset, and from this work out a carbon saving by reusing or refurbishing their phone against the manufacture of a new handset. This involved utilising already published, carbon footprint data and new calculations of sample handsets to develop a basic carbon footprint for each phone/handset and then looking at the end of life options such as landfill, incineration and recycling. Calculations are then made comparing these with the carbon footprint of the S2S operation in refurbishing and re selling the handsets resulting in an overall score for the reduction in carbon from re use. The standard reports from S2S include a carbon reduction figure and a web based calculator will soon be available to clients.
In addition to his unique service, S2S are raising the profile on the security aspect of mobile phones and offering as standard data wiping of all smartphones and certification of the same. Mobile phones these days contain as much data as computers and it is essential that at the point of disposal, the security of that data is paramount, e mails, text messages, files and photos may still be present after the normal factory reset. Using Blannco mobile software, S2S ensure all handsets are wiped of data and that a certificate is generated against the serial number of that phone for the clients records. Once again the standard reports from S2S include the serial number, the IMEI number and the data wiping serial number.

Mobile Phone Recycling to Raise Money for the Benevolent Fund:
Specialist electronic lifecycle services organisation, The S2S Group, will be providing a WEEE recycling box for each of the British Motorcycle Racing Club’s race meetings, so that members can deposit in it their redundant working and non-working mobile phones, PDAs and Smart Phones (with or without chargers), and the first box will be located in the office at Brands Hatch 23-25th September. The phones will then be recycled or refurbished for reuse in line with the obligatory WEEE Directive at the Group’s high security processing site. All data will be erased using CESG UK Government approved software, and all SIM cards will be shredded so that all confidential data is wiped clean. All proceeds raised from the handsets given at the races, will be donated to the British Motorcycle Racing Club Benevolent Fund, which provides support to the club’s members when they are injured during races or elsewhere.

Specialist electronic lifecycle services organisation, the S2S Group, are partnering up with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry to raise awareness to the Chamber’s members and non members of their recycling and social responsibilities, whilst enabling them to make charitable donations.

Through this new partnership, the group who states they are focussed on community investment, is giving the chamber’s members the opportunity to donate their credits gained to the Sheffield Chamber’s charity of the year, ‘Kickstart!’

Bruce RID Recycling can confirm that they have applied to BSI for accreditation to ISO27001 for Information Security Management Systems. This will be incorporated into our existing management system that already covers both ISO9001 and ISO14001. 2011 will see Bruce RID as one of a handful of recycling/data destruction companies approved to all three standards.
